Rats on a roll

The last of the Temple rats have skulked back into Bali. Sheepish grins seem to be permanent fixtures on the younger two. And so it should be, this was their first trip to Australia and what a trip. Not your normal garden variety by any stretch of the imagination. Two young punks armed with cameras and wile arrive in Sydney. Straight away red carpet was extended to a couple of big events at Deus HQ in Camperdown and then bang, they’d packed up their swags and were off following a murder of surfers about. Gone bush as they say, the posse meandered its way up the east coast of Australia. From Sydney, north to Noosa. Meeting only the coolest cats and capturing … View More

‘NORTH TO NOOSA’ NO. 5

This would be the last installment of the ‘North to Noosa’ video vignettes. Big props to young David ‘Pretty Boy’ Schaap for shooting, editing and creating this series . You have a bright future kid!

The Australia Diaries Chapter 5

“You get by with a little help from your friends”. The whole time we were up in Noosa, we were running into pockets of good peeps. One hang out in particular was ‘The Bean Drop’. A small spot that brews up a mean cup of java for the locals that need the goods when their tanks are low. Doc had informed us that not only is it their local, he also drops off Thomas T’s in for the crew to wear and they have one of his epic logs hanging on the wall. “Today” as our luck would have it, “…is free coffee day to all that sport a Deus Tee”. Quipped Doc. No to hard to guess where we … View More

A Day in Noosa

Right smack, bang in the middle of all the shenanigans that the Bali Deus crew were getting into. Jimmy James and Ellis Ericson lobbed into Noosa for an express 24hr stint, just to partake in the “Tracking” premiere. A huge effort considering they were on the first bird out at 6:30am to leap frog across the pacific and meet up with our mate Tyler Warren down in Costa Rica to finish off filming “The Tyler Warren Experiments”. With daylight racing westward Jimmy still managed to whip off his shirt, pull out his camera and put together a short flick down at “Doc-n-Jakes” shaping shed, looking over Thomas’s latest creations as well as the Tracker,s Ellis had shaped for their trip … View More

Tyler Warren at Home

Following the opening of our new Vince Beach shop ‘The Emporium Of Post Modern Activities’ Bali resident, filmmaker and Deus family member Jimmy James made the trip down south to see our good friend Tyler Warren. Tyler has been a an integral part our board building program over the last year here at the Temple in Bali. The boys ended up going to San O for the day. As always Tyler was displaying style and ability that many aspire too and Jimmy James does the same.

The Tyler Warren Experiments

But now Mr. Warren has put together, and teamed up with a Motley Crew of shapers and surfers of all walks of style, the likes of Frye to Christenson, Tudor to Rastovich. Stretching the limits of possibilities with foam and on waves from all around the globe… Some may look at “The Tyler Warren Experiments” and wonder why? Where as Tyler … View More

Dirt Road Diary – Blog Entry #3

The silence of the night was broken just prior to dawn with the sounding of cockerels from every coop in the village… Natures alarm clock was all the encouragement we needed to stretch and amble the 4 feet from our beds to the door, only to feel that southerly wind blowing again. To our disappointment it seemed like it had set it’s course and wasn’t going anywhere soon, which lowered group morale due the to fact that most of the waves we were searching out didn’t really hold up well with a southerly. The obligatory batch of morning instant coffee was ordered and our troupe made basic conversation between each other as the caffeine did its job and glassy eyes … View More

The Soap Bar Trio

After the ‘Tracking’ trip just a few months ago, Tyler Warren did his thing, spent some time in the confines of the shaping bay and left us with a trio of foam-craft before his departure. Three 5 foot “Bars of Soap” now sit in our showroom racks, adding a bit of color and smooth Mini Simmons lines to the array on offer. Each of the three that are available have custom whittled, ‘old’ teak wood, glassed in fins…plus there is a color choice to suit everybody. You know you want one, so come feel one of these sleds up…The only question is…What color are you gonna pick?
