"The Doc’s On Call"

Well looky here, two new logs appeared on the rack of the Deus showroom in Canggu today, from a man we’ve seen alot of here at the Temple but that said, never enough. Thomas “Doc” Bexon is heading back Bali side for another round of toe wrapping hang tens. After Shaping us a myriad of boards built for sliding, gliding and nose riding he’s been paged for more surgical antics in the shaping bay here at the Deus temple of Enthusiasm. If you spotted Tom on his last trip you’ll know this smiley guy slides into the local scene like a hand foiled fin through glassy surf. We’re more than happy to welcome him back to Canggu and can’t wait … View More

The Bali Bloodnok

Often when a customer comes in to order a bike we first of all turn them away. Don’t get me wrong we’re not kicking them out, we’re just asking them to go do their home work – To order a custom bike one must have to have a mental, physical is even better, picture of the bike they want. It has to be from them. Part of them. For them. The best way to do that in the age of the interweb is to look at some websites. Sites such as BikeEXIF and Pipeburn. We tell them to google to their hearts content, even look at our Australian Sibling websites Gallery Section. One such customer took us pretty literally in … View More

Runnin’ out of space.

The night was a Lil’ hazy and my brain is quite lazy, but hear we go…   So we’re doin’ good stuff over here at “The Temple”. Concerts, bitchin. Movie nights, ya that’s right. Gallery exhibits, you know it!   But “Tacos-n-Tattuesdays” are RADICAL…   Folks of all design, comen’ to grind and maken’ their mark, bookin’ Tattoo time. Sharks, words, Birds and Lonesome Cowboys…   Ry Cuming stepin’ up and jamming live and laying it down, for our part of town…  Mr. Jae Laffer showed up to grab a platter of tacos, then strapped on the guitar and belted out a ”Johnny Cash” song with Ted Newjacket (Bob) …   Paul McNeil cracked a smile an’ a beer or … View More

Özlem and Andy – ‘Say That’

If you have ever come to the Temple of Enthusiasm on a Sunday night, five would get you ten that you would have seem our good friends, Özlem and Andy playing. In fact I do believe it was at the Temple that they first met, probably had a chat and after a fashion started playing music together. All of which probably happened only a few short months ago. Now they have just recorded their first music video, in cahoots with Cast Eyewear for the launch of a new line of shades. Those kids! They just seem to grow up so fast these days. Have a quick gander at the vid!   Yeeeewwww!

"Whiskey-N-Rye"

“Welcome back Mr. Lafer, we got cha an upright piano, what ya goin to do with it”?   “Why don’t you pour me a whiskey and I’ll show ya” he replied.   And shit yeah, he showed us…   The evening was set with an All Star line up      (well aren’t we ALL stars after 4 or 5 Tequilas).   First up on stage in the paddies was Nathan, Uke-a-whaling as the sun set, then unexpected guest, but now, good time pal Ry Cuming got down on our back yard stage (he plays this Tuesday at “The Temple”) for a 6-song stint.   Then Mr. Jae Lafer pounded the “Black an White keys” till our jaws hit the lawn… Rounding … View More

A call to the wild, from ones inter most child.   No maps, nor roads, A few poisonous toads. What do you get when you mix two fixed geared riders with a Balinese kecak dance?

Avid readers might remember a couple of months ago when two of the Deus Oz bike riders, Stephan & Piero, came to town and flew through the country-side on their brake-less two wheel wonders. Quick reminder here! Well this week & last, while moving the vast amount of images and other crap that we collected in the last eleven months on our hard drives over to a new RAID storage system we uncovered a few gems. Nico has come to the aid of the party, taking the snippets of this and that we unearthed. He polished these uncovered rough rocks into a minute of pure awesomeness. The look on the riders faces answers that title question once and for all. … View More

Lightning strikes twice in Canggu!

When he says he doesn’t play solo often how is it we are once again welcoming Jae Laffer for a second time this Sunday night? When he’s not hanging out in Bali and at the Deus Temple of Enthusiasm in Canggu, Jae is the lead singer of Australian band ‘The Panics,’ known worldwide for their hit song ‘Don’t fight it.’ Last time he played we called it an “interesting one off” out on the Deus Café’s Veranda. We did so in all sincerity. Now we are at a bit of a loss for what to call it. Just plain lucky I guess. Speaking of lucky. If you were lucky enough to see him play last time, odds have it you’ll … View More

Gone but definately not forgotten.

Thomas Bexon may have left the island but he didn’t leave us empty handed. Fresh out of the glassing bay are two epic looking Thomas Bexon – Deus Customs longboards. In all sense of the term, these are truly beautiful looking objects. Thomas is old school when it comes to his shaping. Every board, from start to finish, is hand shaped forgoing the initial CNC machining a lot of today’s shapers begin with. He takes to a fresh blank with nothing more than a planer, an idea and one hell of a lot of enthusiasm. Don’t take our word for it, have a look yourself. We have a wicked Vimeo video showing time lapse of a board getting shaped, a … View More

Trippin’ with the boys

A recent spur of the moment trip idea saw us spring a couple of steel steeds and set off into the night to make the midnight ferry run to Lombok.  Atop the bikes were Ellis and Andy, both sporting single fin shapes that Ellis had whipped up earlier in the Deus Customs bay. Following suit in the car was ‘Gorgeous George’ Henderson and his brother Harry, accompanied by Jimmy ‘Kucing Besar’ Kinnard behind the wheel. After a sway filled night on the sea voyage and a bit of trail blazing into the wilderness, our traveling band hit the shore. 72 hours on the beach with beers, bro’s and entertainment by Andy weighs easy on the soul…Back to basics. Here is … View More
