Dave’s 5’5 Butt Plug

Since our doors opened we have found that this little Temple seems to inspire creativity in almost everyone. Take good friend Dave for instance, he has always wanted to shape his own board to ride, but never had the time or space to get things going. So it’s safe to say when the Deus shaping bay opened its doors, he was one of the first bodies to inhabit its space.Apart from cutting his original blank a foot shorter than he wanted, the next attempt turned out rather well. He is a carpenter by trade, so is used to crafting objects with his skilled hands. He says that he was inspired by design of the ‘Mini Simmons’ and dubs his masterpiece … View More

A look back at 2010

The New Year is almost upon us, bringing with it a brand new 365 days to use as we see fit. The back-end of 2010 saw a lot happen within the Temple of Enthusiasm’s walls, from international rockstars jamming’ acoustic style, to the groms getting loose in the back yard. Here are some of the moments that happened in and around the Temple’s walls. It has been an eventful and awe inspiring few months, and we are looking towards 2011 to keep up the good vibe! Oh and don’t miss out on the New Years shenanigans tomorrow night. Fireworks, movies, beers and an all around good time to be had. Bring the kids!

A slice of color hits the temple.

The Temple’s showroom just got a helluva lot brighter. The arrival of the Big Boss from Sydney last week meant a shiny new batch of frames and parts for us to drool over. After some extended gazing and touching of their fine forms, we moved them over to the showroom to add a slice of the rainbow to its content list. Amongst the items now up for grab are a couple of Cinelli frame sets, San Marco seats, some tasty lookin’ Aerospoke rims, Thomson heads,Velocity rims, Toshi foot straps, Wellgo track peddles, Roselli sprockets and a few sexy Shimano chains. There has already been fist fights over the Aerospokes (yes Robby and Adi…I’m talking about you.) So if you want … View More

The year 2010 is on its way out…and what a year it has been. I cant believe that this time last year they were just finishing up the foundations to build the Temple of Enthusiasm on. To celebrate the arrival of the coming year Deus will be hosting a New Years Eve Backyard Bash on our newly built ‘stage.’ There will be movies for the kiddywinks and a plethora of live acts to keep the big boys and girls jumpin’. Blues will mix with Folk and Rock will roll into Rockabilly. Made J, Jason Stone, Matty P and Pandora will be on the mic and playin’ all night. Dinner to the sound of DJ Fraser will start at 6PM, with … View More

Velocita Freedom Riders

Hey everybody, Red Herring here…after a quick Christmas sabbatical I’m back at the helm and ready to bring you some more of the words and pictures that I know you have come to love. This morning, with no waves in sight, the Deus Groms (8 to 14 year old’s) grabbed their bicycles, threw them in the truck and we headed inland to our island’s capital. A Sunday morning ride around the closed streets of Denpasar was a nice little remedy to combat the lingering effects of last night not to mention the wind and damp the wet season brings. The boys mounted up and hit the tarmac, quickly finding the Bali Fix Comm crew, they proceeded to get loose and … View More

Street Tracker 225

Introducing our brand new Street Tracker 225, a little something we have been working on for a couple o’ full moons. Built from the ground up, this tarmac traveler has received all the bells and whistles. It’s beating 225cc heart has been carefully operated on to harness as much punch as possible without loosing its dependability. Front shocks are cut from a CB400 and those paired with Daytona’s in the rear make sure this bike can tackle whatever terrain this island has to offer. The boys have been working late to finish her off, rolling her into the showroom earlier this week. The good news is that she’s currently up for grabs, so if your in the market for an … View More

Fleas and Itches

Born to a farmer’s family, New Zealander, Hugh Stewart grew up on the range so to speak. The eldest of 7 showed little to no interest towards farming and as soon as school was out, hopped a plane to Europe. It was the early 80′s and whilst residing in a notorious London squat, Hugh picked up the camera for the first time and started shooting portraits of friends and acquaintances. After what he calls ‘a spectacular eviction’ Stewart returned to the southern hemisphere, Ending up in Sydney. Now facing unemployment, he put together a portfolio and furthermore received his first assignment shooting for Australian Vogue. Having got his foot in the door, Stewart was then commissioned to shoot for other … View More

Fisher and the Boat

Deus Grom, Fixie fixture and little ripper Fisher ‘Fish’ Louis just got back from an 11 day surf adventure around the Mentawi islands in Indonesia. This is his story in all its glory. “What kid wouldn’t be amped to cruise around the Mentawis looking for waves? plus onto of that i got to take 5 days of school, which is just a blessing in my books. Me, my mom, some photographers and other surfers booked the largest sail boat in the Mentawis, ‘The Bintang,’ 120 foot of pure sea fairing fun. We boarded at around 7:00pm, ate dinner and chatted a bit before heading to our bunks. The sun woke us up at around 6:00am the next day, we were … View More

Christmas Co-Lab Artshow

Campur is the Indonesian word for mixed. We recently adopted it for the name for our Short Film Festival to try and acknowledge the diversity of entrants. Then we have “A Xmas Deus Art Show”. Talk about all corners of the kampung. Photos from the boss, random autistic marks from the smokin’ skull, 1940′s photos from Rhett, Andy’s favorite things all about, the two A’s, Antonio & Ano hung their digital doodles, Justine’s collection of Mexican gentlemen kept an eye on the place, Julian showed he’s not just a pretty face with a not so pretty face, Frazer recycled pop art icons and Jim’s homage to Bodhi brought tears to ones eye. If that isn’t Campur I will go he! … View More
